The Sociology Department would like to congratulate Olivia Mauchley on her undergraduate research with Akiko Kamimura, and honor of receiving the Francis Family Foundation Scholarship! Olivia is in her fourth year studying Sociology with a Chemistry minor. She has a strong desire to learn about Asian American encounters with discrimination and racism. The desire to be informed of her peers' circumstances has led her to develop more kinesthetic ideas for independent research. The purpose of her research is to examine instances of discrimination against Asian Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aids in the understanding of Asian American well-being and has potential implications for other minority groups. Congratulations Olivia!
