By completing the University of Utah's Sociology Bachelor Degree Requirements, students
will be prepared for twenty-first-century challenges by learning to:
Understand what sociology is, as a social science discipline
Understand key theories, theorists, and concepts in sociology
Learn to use a variety of research methods as a means of understanding the social
world and human interaction
Apply sociological theories and concepts to the understanding of real-world problems
and events (e.g., issues of diversity, sustainability, health, globalization, crime,
and law)
Communicate effectively about sociological issues, making well-organized arguments
supported by relevant evidence
